Monthly prayer impulse
Adoration is like …
… a child in its mother’s arms
I am not concerned with great matters
or with subjects too difficult for me.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother’s arms,
so my heart is quiet within me. (Psalm 131, 1b+2)
When we adore Jesus with Mary
our soul becomes calm, like a child in its mother’s arms.
Even though we are surrounded by storms,
or they rage in our hearts,
when the situation in the world and Church
unsettles me,
indeed, when my life is like a rollercoaster:
Mary shelters me in her heart.
Sheltered by her I look up to Jesus
and place into his Heart
all my fears for the future,
my fear of decisions that have to be made,
my concerns for the people I love,
my questions about the meaning of my life.
Mary gives me some her security,
her trust,
her faith.
Mary helps me to hear Jesus’ voice
in the midst of the storms in my heart.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Mt 11, 28-30)
